3 Healthy Habits behind My Grandpa’s Good health

My dear readers and fellow followers, today I feel immense pleasure to share my grandpa’s 5 healthy habits, which he never ignores, and I, along with my small family, learn whatever about the healthy lifestyles from no one other than only my grandpa. He is a retired school teacher and has celebrated his 81st birthday on 22nd June 2026. Being a health writer, I am hereby sharing his 5 crucial healthy habits as follows.

1.     Maintenance   of healthy weight

Grandpa believes that balanced weight is very important for sound and sustainable health. Keeping this view in mind he maintains his weight through balanced food and necessary physical activity. He says that our body changes with the pace of age and our muscles may not work, and it affects our physical and mental strength. In order to skip from being overweight and obese, we need to burn our extra calories acquired from foods and beverages through physical activity. My grandpa used to burn his extra calories by working in our garden. According to him, overweight and obesity may increase certain critical ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. Grandpa is in view that the BMI, or Body Mass Index, of younger adults should not be higher than 18.5 to 24.9. Accordingly, a woman with more than 35 inches and a man with more than 40 inches of waist may have a risk for health problems. Therefore, my grandpa always asks us and our neighbors to maintain a healthy weight to skip unwanted health problems.

2.     Healthy Eating

Before going into what foods my grandpa prefers most, it is very important to mention that he is always annoyed with fast and junk foods taken by today's generation. He loves traditional, comfortable, and easy-to-digest home-style meals like mashed potatoes and gravy and khichiri (an Indian dish made from rice, lentils, or millets cooked until creamy and soft.)

He loves chutney made from pudina, karrypatta, and other traditional  herbs. Lemon juice is one of favorite beverages of my grandpa. He loves sattoo drinks (a cooling, high-protein roasted gram drink mixed with water and spices), and he always takes soups made from carrots, beets, and tender beans during the winter season. He always says that we should not have more than we need and it should be according to our climate. He prohibits us from watching TV and mobile during eating because we may not know how much we are consuming if we are distracted. According to vitamins and minerals, they are nutrients that help our body stay healthy and work well.

3.     Physical Activity

W  Another key factor behind my grandpa’s sound health is physical activity. Of course, he never goes for gym or walking. Instead of it, he burns his extra calories by working in our garden one and a half hours daily. Working in a vegetable garden is a wonderful daily habit that keeps him fit , healthy, and connected to nature.

While I ask him why he loves working in the garden, he says that digging and planting help his body keep active and strong and that he picks tasty, healthy vegetables right from the soil.

Conclusion

I am highly impressed by my grandpa's healthy lifestyles, and I alway follow him and do what he asks to do for keeping myself healthy and fit . What do you do to keep yourself fit and well ? let me know plesae
